US – Moment, a new app available on both iPhone and Android, tracks how much a phone is used throughout the day.
A common anxiety of modern life is that we are all spending too much time swiping screens and checking emails on our smartphones. But Moment can monitor how many times you pick up your phone every day, where you go, and how much you are using your phone. As well as monitoring users’ behaviour, it can set limits and remind you when you are nearing your usage cap. The app is also invisible and runs in the background so that once it is opened, users can simply forget about it and let it track intuitively.
The app’s creator Kevin Holesh writes on the company website: ‘I designed Moment not to encourage you to smash your iPhone with a hammer and never pick it up again. My goal was to find a balance of connected and disconnected that was right for me.’
