Paris – Japanese brand Y-3, headed by Yohji Yamamoto, showed an urban surf-inspired collection during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.

Yamamoto drew inspiration from the world of surfing, mixing beachwear with silhouettes more appropriate for the city. Looks were relaxed and featured loose-fitting trousers rolled up above the ankles, and roomy tailored jackets. Suits were re-interpreted in sportswear materials such as jersey and finished with drawstring details.

Beach hair was translated into balayage-fade prints, worn with combat trousers and Velcro sandals. Hawaiian prints also featured, combined with urbanite silver and black.

Surfboards surrounded a catwalk made from mismatched and graffitied driftwood, hammering home the collection's origins.
