Stockholm – Beckmans College of Design graduates presented a collection of Neo Kitsch furniture inspired by polarity, opposites and contradictions in the Greenhouse area at Stockholm Furniture Fair.
Faced with a brief to look at opposing properties in culture, society and design, the graduates examined a broad range of themes, including religion versus science and left-brain versus right-brain thinking. Reflecting our Neo Kitsch macro Inspire, many furniture pieces in the collection explored experimental material opposites and totemic structures with irreverent references.
LS:N Global’s favourites are Stella Pilback’s Public/Public table, Anna Wennerhed’s Another View corner cabinet and Wictor Gussing’s flamboyant Super-Ultra-Hyper-Mega-Fountain. The graduates also presented a series of bespoke soundscapes, each designed to be individually paired with a piece of furniture.
