New York – An artist has found a way to recycle her old cassette tapes – by making them into clothes. Sonic Fabric, by conceptual artist Alyce Santoro, emits the sounds of her old classics when a tape head is passed over it.
Santoro’s collection includes shimmery dresses, colourful umbrellas and smart ties, woven from 50% recorded audiocassette tape and 50% coloured thread. As planetary resources become depleted, unnatural materials are increasingly being used in new ways.
