London – Fashion photographer Tim Walker usually focuses his lens on young beauties for publications such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, to name a few. But for his latest project, Walker applied his eye to a different section of society – grandmothers.
Walker, in collaboration with fashion illustrator Lawrence Mynott, has produced a two-volume book, The Granny Alphabet. Published by Thames & Hudson, the book features portraits of grannies and their beloved possessions as well as illustrations of unexpected grandmother archetypes.
Filled with charming rhymes and limericks by Kit Hesketh-Harvey, The Granny Alphabet brings to life an often forgotten generation of women and shows their beauty and grace.
As the world’s population ages, there is increasing focus on Baby Boomers and people have to re-assess how they think about older groups.
