London – A new copper lighting collection combines nature and art.
The OverNight series of lamps by studio Odd Matter was created using old and new techniques. Stained glass panels in garnet, amber and mother of pearl were fused together using the copper plating technique. The lamps were then dipped in an electro-plating bath overnight so that the copper strips grew organically, creating a strong bond between the panels.
The technique gives copper an unusual aerated texture that contrasts with the smooth glass.
