Paris – Luxury brand Chanel has collaborated with French department store Printemps for a round-the-world trip through its famous Christmas windows display.
The Dreams of Far Away exhibition was curated by Chanel creative chief Karl Lagerfeld and features 3D visual merchandising scenes inspired by 11 of the designer’s favourite global locations.
Passers-by can travel through a Chanel-shaped lens to far-flung destinations, including Los Angeles, London, Paris, New York, Biarritz, Moscow, Venice, Shanghai, Tokyo and the Cap d’Antibes.
The opulent displays feature miniature marionettes of Lagerfeld created by puppeteer Jean-Claude Dehix. Four of the windows are animated with the Lagerfeld marionettes acting out scenes in tune with the city presented – including visiting the Moscow opera or sightseeing in London or New York.
With this luxurious visual journey through its heritage locations, Chanel is taking consumers on an immersive global tour via the Printemps windows. Look out for The Future Laboratory’s upcoming Leisure and Hospitality Futures report for more on luxury travel trends.
