London – A pop-up restaurant called Ridley’s lets local market traders exchange produce for meals on Ridley Road Market in East London. Guest chefs devise menus using only produce from the market.
The project was created by design collective The Decorators and art and architecture practice Atelier Chan Chan. The two-storey pop-up venue has a kitchen on the ground floor, and a communal dining area on the second floor. A mechanical pulley table delivers food to the diners.
This is a great example of pop-up dining that gives food a story, and ties the concept to a community. For another compelling example of pop-up dining, read our Gingerline article in the Innovate section.
