Helsinki – Catalan designer Marti Guixé, Finnish conceptual chef Antto Melasniemi and Lapin Kulta beer have created a pop-up restaurant called the Solar Kitchen, where dishes are cooked using only the sun’s heat.
‘The idea was to see how people react to a restaurant that is completely controlled by nature,’ says Melasniemi. ‘Foods taste different when they are heated by the sun, which is gentler.’
The project takes hyper-seasonal dining to a new level, with dishes and ingredients determined by the weather on the day. For another example of spontaneous dining, read our What Happens When Innovate feature.
