Milan – In a house made of cardboard by Shigeru Ban, set up in the space made famous by Established & Sons, La Pelota on Via Palermo, Hermès has launched its latest furniture ranges.
The two new collections, the Matières by Enzo Mari and Métièrs by Antonio Citterio, reflect the ethos of, and feature elements inspired by, the Paris-based grand dame of luxury. Much of the leather used is Clémence bull calf leather, slightly thicker than the brand’s leather goods. The legs of the console table in the Matières collections are crossed, referencing the brand’s connection with foldable furniture that is easy to travel with.
Appropriately, the collections and their temporary home, the paper, cardboard and wood house by Shigeru Ban, is set to travel. Its next stop will be Tokyo.
LS:N Global will be reporting more luxury interior news in our Milan report, on sale next week.§
