Milan – Italian homeware manufacturer Alessi is presenting a series of 18 desk items at Milan Design Week designed in collaboration with students from ECAL University of Art and Design Lausanne.

The pieces were conceived as part a workshop with ECAL at the end of 2010. For Alberto Alessi, CEO of the brand, the move away from kitchenware was an interesting challenge ‘The projects revolve around the themes of the office and home study, a product area we have rarely tackled and an interesting opportunity for us to enrich the Alessi Encyclopaedia.’

The resulting designs are intended to be versatile objects, suitable for use in the home and office. Although the exhibited pieces are still at the prototype stage, Alessi plans to develop some of the themes and concepts into realised products in the future.

LS:N Global will be attending Milan Design Week and will report from the shows throughout the week
