Disney is opening a Star Wars-themed hotel

19 : 07 : 2017 Hospitality : Media : Travel

US – The resort aims to immerse guests in the sci-fi franchise’s universe.

The hotel will be styled after a large spaceship, with windows that reveal views of outer space. Guests will receive clothing inspired by the series and interact with robots and creatures from the Star Wars universe. A two-day narrative event will enable guests to participate in an immersive experience featuring characters and storylines from the films.

‘We are working on our most experiential concept ever. It combines a luxury resort with immersion in an authentic environment,’ says Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Bob Chapek. ‘It will invite you to live your own dedicated, multi-day adventure in a galaxy far, far away.’

The Big Picture

  • Disney’s ambitious plan goes beyond the standard themed hotel concept to further blur the boundaries between fact and fiction, and members of staff and guests
  • LS:N Global has been tracking the rise of Futuretainment as the demand for immersive, narrative-driven hospitality concepts rises
