A matter of perspective

20 : 11 : 2015 Olympus : Perspective Playground : Palais De Tokyo

Paris – Olympus is lending its cameras to visitors at the Perspective Playground exhibition to help them capture the perfect shot.

  • Visitors are invited to enter their photos in a contest for the chance to win a new camera
  • The exhibition gives as much attention to the spectator as to the works of art

Hosted at the Palais de Tokyo, Perspective Playground is an exhibition that appeals to today’s Insta culture. Since its initiation in 2013 and success in cities including Amsterdam, Berlin and Vienna, more than 2m pictures have been shared around the world.

Visitors are free to explore works, curated by Berlin-based design studio flora&faunavisions, including artist Leigh Sachwitz’s 3D house InsideOut and the giant Magic Kaleidoscope by architects A2arquitectos, commissioned to explore the meaning of perspective and purpose-built with social media in mind.

To make sure guests capture the exhibition in its best light, each is lent either an Olympus OM-D or a PEN camera with an SD card that is theirs to keep. Visitors are also invited to learn how to improve their Insta skills with photo workshops scheduled every weekend.

The Big Picture

Savvy brands such as Olympus are taking a more central role in curating culture, shifting their focus from heritage to legacy. Find out more about how the commercial opportunities of cultural spaces are evolving in our Museum Market report.
