London Design Festival 2015 – Design and agronomy combine in Plants Out Of Place, an exhibition encouraging the public to reconsider the value of wild plants.
UK-based material innovators Studio Aikieu and Swedish gardening house Coloni aim to educate communities on the historical importance of weeds to help transform their poor public image.
‘As we have advanced as a species we have lost knowledge and awareness of what these misunderstood plants have provided for us in the past and can provide in the future,’ explains Jenny Lee, founder of Studio Aikieu. A collaboration between a number of creative practitioners, including Mariah Wright and Drink Factory, the exhibition will reflect on the crucial role of wild plants in earth’s ecological future.
As sustainability continues to draw global interest, Plants Out Of Place engages with this concern by highlighting the significance of the smaller factors contributing towards a greener future that often go unnoticed.
