The F-ABRIC collection is based on the company’s core belief that textile production should be as sustainable as possible. To achieve to this, brothers and founders Markus and Daniel Freitag have developed ‘a tough, sustainably produced and compostable material made in Europe’.

Any clothes made from F-ABRIC are completely biodegradable, other than the buttons, which can be re-used. All production takes place within a 2,500km radius of the Freitag factory in Zurich, with minimal input of chemicals, and the F-ABRIC is made of hemp, linen and modal, all grown on a farm in northern France. The clothing line was originally designed for the Freitag factory staff, but as it explains on its website: ‘Ultimately, F-ABRIC is not a clothing collection from a bag manufacturer. It is a new raw material developed by and for Freitag designers to use to create clothing, bags, or whatever else may pop into their head.’

Frietag’s emphasis on sustainability and responsible production is becoming a defining feature of successful brands that are connecting with conscientious Millennials who favour brands that are transparent. For further insights, read our Whole-chain Thinking microtrend.
