Cream of the crop: Painterly props form a fruitful display

28 : 08 : 2014 Bethan Laura Wood : Hermès : Still Life

UK - Connoisseur of colour Bethan Laura Wood has created a sequence of window displays for Hermès, evocative of historical still-life paintings of fruit and vegetables.

The Fruits of Labour project is the latest addition to Wood’s array of collaborations, which LS:N Global reported on in 2013. Illustrating the artful, handmade process involved in creating Hermès products, the still-life objects are enlarged and beautifully bulbous. Delicately painted in warm tones, they are styled in the forefront of delicately hand-painted canvases.

LS:N Global has noted a wave of designers crafting products and installations which give a nod to renaissance art – read our Renaissance Revisited design direction from Milan 2014.
