New York – Italian sunglasses brand Retrosuperfuture has opened its first US outpost – and, like the name of the label, the interiors are both retro and futuristic, cleverly combining woodworking with digital surprises hidden within.
The space is industrial and minimalist with exposed brick and wooden display cases. But within the cases are hidden drawers with iPads, which enable customers to scroll through the brand’s stock.
Phy-gital spaces are becoming the norm in retail, as people expect technology to facilitate transactions. Retrosuperfuture’s ingenious way of integrating the technology so that is both hidden and available may be the next stage in this retail revolution.
