Female futures

24 : 10 : 2016 The Athena Woman : Entrepreneurs : Sharmadean Reid

London – Wah London founder Sharmadean Reid has created a one-day workshop event for aspiring female CEOs.

  • The workshops were produced in partnership with Johnnie Walker
  • Future Girl Corp was open to 100 young female entrepreneurs

The one-day business event was designed to inspire young businesswomen to develop their own projects using the expertise of other successful women in their sector.

The first event, which was free to attend, included talks by female employees at Google, Facebook, IBM, Huckletree, Wool & the Gang and Seen Presents, as well as seminars designed to provide attendees with all of the skills needed to make their businesses thrive.

‘I am passionate about economic empowerment for women,’ says Reid, who founded Wah London without any business background. ‘FutureGirlCorp is my way of helping the next generation of female business entrepreneurs get off to the best possible start.’

FutureGirlCorp marks an unusual departure for Johnnie Walker. The brand usually takes a masculine approach to its marketing, but is looking to prove its commitment to female entrepreneurship by financing the event.

The Big Picture

In a world in which women are taking the professional world by storm, brands are recognising the power of these Fempreneurs. See our macrotrend The Athena Woman for more.
