Madrid – Spanish designer Sergio Guijarro has collaborated with Miriam Tochijara to create a new game concept that enables children to create their own toys using a piece of string and wooden pieces.

The toy set, entitled Baooab, features a long piece of string and six small wooden shapes with small holes in the side. Children can thread the string through the holes to connect the pieces and construct their own toys, or they can loop the string through individual pieces to represent animals or whatever their imaginations come up with.

Young children are increasingly looking for toys and gadgets that are personal to them. Toys such as Baooab will appeal to them as they can customise and create their own characters using simple materials.
