International – Form Follows Function is a new website that presents interactive web experiences made possible by the introduction of HTML5.
The site, by interactive developer and designer Jongmin Kim, features 13 designs at present. Hue Blending distorts the colours of a range of Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s Soup paintings, depending on the position of the cursor. Wiper Typography consists of a cluster of letters falling from the top of the screen that can be cleared away by the movement of a digital wiper blade.
To a greater extent than previous coding languages, HTML5 enables designers to deliver content such as animation, music and interactivity in websites without the need for additional software or plugins.
See our HTML5 Toolkit for more examples of what designers are doing with the new tools.
