Singapore – Tell My Friends is a new social selling platform that aims to combat illegal downloads by offering rewards to consumers who buy their music online.
Music lovers who sign up to the service visit the Tell My Friends Facebook page to see the latest songs available. When they find a song they like, they are given a choice of 10 different commissions they can earn by sharing the song.
If the user chooses the ‘tier 1’ commission scheme, they will earn $0.21 (€0.17, £0.13) for each purchase made by friends. If they choose tier 2, they will earn commission through the purchases made by their friends’ friends, and so on.
This is a great example of a brand leveraging social selling to address the issue of music piracy. To see more examples of social selling, see our User Curated Retail microtrend.
