Amsterdam – Dutch architecture firm DUS Architects has created the Mind Igloo, a convivial environment inside two hot air balloons, as part of the Mediamatic Foundation’s New Order exhibition series.
The two repurposed hot air balloons are inflated to create igloo-like communal structures. Visitors are asked to hand in their smartphones, from which 10 photographs are selected for public display on the interior walls of the balloons.
By taking people’s smartphones the Mind Igloo provides a Sublime Space in which people can switch off. It also merges real and digital experiences by displaying private digital property in public in a shared environment. The Bubble Building is another example of DUS Architects’ ephemeral architecture covered by LS:N Global.
