US – Soft drinks company Pepsi is launching its new drink, Pepsi Next, with a personalised Facebook campaign in which a comedian impersonates people trying the drink in a video.
Within 24 hours of Pepsi fans signing up for the campaign, their social media profile is analysed and an edited video is posted back with a stand-up comedian impersonating them as they try the drink.
‘We’ll analyse their Facebook persona,’ Shiv Singh, head of digital for PepsiCo Beverages tells technology site Mashable. ‘It will be very close to who they actually are. We have improvisation comedians on stand-by.’
This is a great example of a personalised ad campaign that engages directly with consumers through social media. In the Future Media Landscape, creating personal channels to speak to customers will be crucial.
