London – For this spring/summer 2012 Trend Briefing, to be held at The Hospital Club on 14 March, LS:N Global will examine a new kind of nostalgia. With all things recessionary, retro and Revivalist lingering in the Turbulent Teens, a new trend is emerging that we call Not/stalgia.
During the event, The Future Laboratory’s Martin Raymond, Chris Sanderson, Tom Savigar and James Wallman will guide visitors through the key themes and trends that will set agendas in the next 2-5 years.
The New Sublimity – As those before them have blurred the line between business and leisure, teens and people in their early 20s are eager to separate the two again. We are seeing a rise of Hoboism, Digital Switch-off and Secular Spiritualism.
Netstalgia – Digital natives are reacting to an increasingly complex world with a hankering for the early days of the web. We will look at Hand-made Digital, the Rise of Tumblr and Digital Archaeology.
The Future Family – As the impact of the squeezed middle resonates, we analyse how UK and EU homes are changing in the wake of a housing, income, environmental and generational reconfiguration that is affecting everything from the shape of our homes to the make up of our families.
