New York – A project aims to turn a disused underground train track into a subterranean park. The Low Line will use a new sunlight irrigation device to fill the area with natural light.
The project is being funded by the open-source funding platform, Kickstarter. The park will be filled with natural plant life and walkways, and sunlight will be siphoned into the area using fibre-optic cables connected to solar panels on the street above.
This area will provide a sanctuary from the busy environment of the city. In our forthcoming Trend Briefing, we will explore how people are seeking meaningful experiences via spaces that enable them to think and reflect in The New Sublimity.
