Paris – Prada opened a 24-hour pop-up museum on 24 January at the Palais d’léna.
The 24h Museum was designed by Milanese artist Francesco Vezzoli, in collaboration with Rem Koolhaas’ AMO think tank. Vezzoli recreated classical sculptures featuring the faces of 20th-century divas, such as Grace Kelly and Elizabeth Taylor, while separate areas showed films starring Lady Gaga and Sharon Stone.
The museum also hosted an exclusive dinner party and a temporary nightclub before opening to the public on 25 January.
The public were also invited to contribute to an online exhibition through the 24h Museum website. After installing an app through Facebook, users could create a portrait using various picture frames and effects – which they then shared on the website and other social media sites.
Enabling users to create and share visual content is a great way of engaging with the Tumblr generation, a theme we will explore in our Netstalgia trend at our Trend Briefing in March. Book tickets here.
