London – UK department store Selfridges is showcasing 15 of Britain’s most promising designers from the worlds of fashion, art, design and food in its Oxford Street windows for its second Bright Young Things creative project.
Fashion designer William Richard Green is one to watch. His window display is a humorous take on his dark signature style. For spring/summer 2012, he tells LS:N Global, his vision combines masculine utilitarianism and technical innovation – undercut by a dark, perverse sense of humour.
The window display features an illustration by Green’s friend Martin Wollerstram, who designed a print for this season’s collection, so he decided to carry it through into the design of the window. ‘I liked that it is dark and funny at the same time. My collections can be dark and moody, so I always try and incorporate a sense of humour somewhere,’ says Green.
Look out for LS:N Global’s forthcoming fashion talent to watch reports from New York, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks, starting in February for autumn/winter 2012/2013.
