Delft, The Netherlands – Traditional Delftware manufacturer Royal Delft has produced a collection of modernised pottery.
The collection, called D1653 after the year in which the company was established, combines the traditional decorative paint practice with modern Dutch design. Pieces include a series of ceramic bottles with decorative blue collars, designed by Arian Brekveld, and the Double Heritage decorative vessels by Damian O’Sullivan.
LS:N Global recently reported on design company 1882, which is re-interpreting fine bone china with a modern collection of designs. The trend for reviving old practices and techniques is further explored in our Revivalism macrotrend.
