London – A brave new world of domestic gadgetry – including a sonic chair, a health-check mirror and a remote-controlled fridge – will be on show at the House of the Future] at the upcoming Grand Designs Live exhibition at ExCel London. The show runs from 25 April to 4 May.
Among the most inventive products is a wireless kitchen assistant that tastes ingredients and generates recipes from social networks. A winner of the Electrolux Design Lab 2008 competition, the Sook, designed by Adam Brodowski, detects food on its cutting board and uses electronic tastebuds to suggest complementary ingredients. Once the meal has been prepared, the gadget photographs and uploads the dish on a related website so users can show off their culinary prowess to their online peers.
