Libertyville, Illinois – Technology manufacturer Motorola Mobility has launched MotoActiv, a music playing fitness device that gleans data from exercisers’ training sessions and works out which songs motivate them the most.
Using sensors and GPS to gather data, MotoActiv learns which songs produce the best results from the wearer and arranges them in a playlist, which is then activated during tougher parts of fitness sessions.
The device connects to a platform called the MotoActiv Web Portal, which collates workout data, plots levels of exertion during songs and compares progress with that of friends. For more on the quantified self, read our tribe report.
