Bruges – A new hair salon, Xantippe Hairdressers, has been designed for the female consumer with a pared-down and masculine aesthetic.
‘I wanted to create a salon that doesn’t look like a hair salon,’ says designer Lieven Musschoot. The beauty space features white walls, light and dark wooden flooring, and a sandstone wall. Custom-made LED lights by Tronixx Belgium and black acrylic chairs by MDF Italia add to the minimalist and gender-neutral aesthetic.
This unusual design direction for a female hair salon illustrates a growing shift in the aesthetics and functionality of conventional beauty spaces. For more examples of minimalist salons, read our Beauty Futures report.
