Primitive twist: The shape of dining in Kiev

Designed by Sergey Makhno and Vasiliy Butenko, the restaurant merges the natural and the modern. The interior walls are covered in sticks, as is the bar, while the shapes in natural muddy tones are smooth, rounded and organic. Drop-shaped lamps hang from the ceilings to represent rain.

Six balconies reflect the shape of a tornado while sleek polished wooden slats create a smooth freshly rained-on look.

The aesthetic of this Kiev restaurant fits in with what LS:N Global has identified as the Primitivism trend, a move towards natural materials and shapes.
