Cheonan, South Korea – Architecture firm UNstudio has unveiled a multi-storey department store in South Korea called Galleria Centercity.
In Asia department stores serve a highly social function. ‘People meet, gather, eat, drink, shop and window shop in these venues,’ explains the firm. As a response, the communal space in the Galleria will act as a point of cultural exchange. To foster this, the interior was built around layers that unfold and transform as visitors move throughout the space.
