Rome – A new Zara flagship store on Via del Corso draws on the city’s heritage. The Palazzo Bocconi building, which dates back more than 120 years, has been redesigned by architecture firm Duccio Grassi by blending neo-classical and Renaissance features.
The 5,000-square metre space was designed as part of fashion distributor Initex’s Sustainable Inditex Plan. With features such as motion-sensitive escalators and perforated display hangers, the space uses 30% less energy than a conventional store’s annual average, uses 80% less water and reduces CO2 atmospheric emissions by more than 200 tonnes a year.
