A Manhattan location is re-inventing the tired hire-by-the-hour meeting space by embracing the Bleisure trend to create the relaxing and pleasurable MEET environment. Based in the SoHo district, MEET has been developed to address the needs of small agencies without their own client meeting space. ‘Big agencies used to get the big clients, but now there are more smaller companies getting them, and they don’t have as much space internally for meetings,’ explains co-founder Marc Schiller. MEET offers a solution to this problem, with its concierge service and designer interior. The space is also expected to be popular among larger corporations looking for a more inspiring environment in which to hold meetings. ‘Some 40% of a hotel’s revenue comes from meetings, but the product is lousy – uncomfortable chairs, bad av systems and grey carpets. So we’ve created a dedicated meeting space, fully optimised for creative work and brainstorming,’ says Schiller.
As more creatives and consultants need spaces while working away from home, MEET also expects a large number of overseas clients, indicating a more global and nomadic type of worker is becoming more prominent amongst the creative industries.
