London – A new menswear store takes its visual cues from the rough-luxe aesthetic. In Hostem, casual yet luxury streetwear is ‘married with the niche, the unexpected and the directional,’ according to owner James Brown.
Design duo JAMESPLUMB, founded by Hannah Plumb and James Russell, has reduced the ostentatious in favour of an emotional design. Clothing labels such as Visvim and Maurizo Amadei are placed next to Swedish linen curtains. Restored floorboards and raw, exposed bulbs combine with vintage lampshades made into a chandelier. The shop also features artworks by Huw Griffiths.
‘We love reworking old materials,’ the duo tells LS:N Global. ‘In that way we instil a sense of history and an emotional attachment to design.’
