Memory lane: Building tales of London life

London – Londoners will be able to add their own tales and memories of buildings during the London Festival of Architecture.

In the Tales of the City project readable and playable barcodes are attached to buildings such as Broadcasting House in Portland Place, or a wall in Chalk Farm or on Shoreditch High Street.

Passers-by will then be able to add their own stories about them via a free application downloadable from talesofthings.com, enabling people to create their own codes as well as leave comments and on the existing barcodes. When scanning them via the app people will get a personal story of the London site.

The festival encourages people to investigate ways to make London a better place to live, work and play, to explore the city through guided walks and bike rides, and to examine change in the capital. It will take place between June 25 and July 4.
