US – Sprimo, the world’s smallest air monitor, detects and tracks toxins in real time.
The compact air monitor is the first smartphone-compatible air monitor. It uses ‘cutting-edge gas detector technology’ to detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and is being funded through Kickstarter.
Data recorded by the device is converted into Environmental Protection Agency metrics and displayed on an accompanying app. Users are encouraged to share their readings, which are added to a real-time ‘heat map’ of air quality around the globe.
‘Sprimo Labs is dedicated to not only detecting and tracking the air but incorporating that technology into future products to track and clean the air in your personal space,’ says Ray Combs, co-founder and CEO of Sprimo.
Consumers are increasingly aware of the negative effects of air pollution on their health, and brands are developing tools that enable them to monitor air quality in any location. To find out more, read our Pollution Market.
