Who Needs a Superhero?: Rovero to the Rescue

London – Designer Ralph Rovero’s ‘Who Needs a Superhero?’ collection, presented at this month’s graduate fashion show at the University of Westminster, featured a vivid explosion of primary colours inspired by the imaginative world of superheroes.

Using children’s favourites such as Superman, Power Rangers and Pokémon as bold colour and silhouette references, Rovero’s collection takes a fun and playful approach to fashion design. Geometric shapes such as triangles reinforce the childhood theme.

Sports-inspired and waterproof fabrics including neoprene, jersey, latex and rip-stop nylons feature heavily in the garments.

‘Everyone should put on colours more, play and have fun,’ said Rovero. ‘Who Needs a Superhero?’ reiterates the significance of imagination, play and naivety in design and brand interaction, as we identified in our report on the Playscapes design direction.
