London – At LS:N Global’s Food and Drink Network Evening, we spoke to Miranda York, co-founder and editor of creative platform and events agency Toast.

  • Toast magazine celebrates the ideas and stories behind food and drink culture
  • The 2012 Toast Festival featured 40 speakers across 15 events, as well as a pop-up store, bespoke coffee bar and art exhibition

The agency examines food and drink through a cultural prism and celebrates British talent in its annual magazine.

Speaking to our senior journalist Daniela Walker, York explained her philosophy: ‘There are no recipes, no celebrity chefs and no trend pieces.’ Instead, the magazine features short stories and poetry, and casts a spotlight on the emerging innovators and influencers in the food and drink industry, from chefs to film-makers and entrepreneurs.

York also founded Druid Street Market in south London in July 2014, where she manages street food pop-ups, curates a tasty series of events and helps food entrepreneurs find their feet.

‘At the moment, we’re running a Chefs of Tomorrow residency, where up-and-coming chefs can come and showcase what they do,’ she says.
