Working in harmony

09 : 11 : 2015 The Working Capitol : Bleisure : Foreign Policy

Singapore – A new co-working space that operates at the intersection of creativity, technology and business is building a community of ‘knowledge workers’.

  • Inspired by Euclid’s theory of harmony through complementary systems
  • The focus on building a knowledge-sharing community signals a new step for co-working spaces

The Working Capitol pays homage to the Euclidean principle of producing useful and beautiful ideas through the harmonious joining of different dimensions. The geometry of The Working Capitol comprises three planes – beautiful spaces, contemporary lifestyles and community.

Intended as a facilitator of dynamic conversation and rapid idea prototyping, The Working Capitol embodies a move towards a members’ club model that enables social and professional networks to converge offline.

‘Co-working spaces are on the rise in Singapore,’ Richard Hywel Evans, director of Studio RHE, the architects behind the Alphabeta Building in London, tells LS:N Global. ‘Today’s workers expect employee-centric environments that support new business models and promote wellness, productivity and innovation.’

The Big Picture

The sharing economy sweeping through the West is catching on in Asia. For more on how the Bleisure lifestyle has progressed since we first identified it in 2009, see our Trend Tracker.
