In the annual spectacle of sales and stands, Frieze London entered its twelfth year and was the first under the stewardship of Frieze Masters founding director Victoria Siddall. Overseeing Frieze Projects, a non-profit-making programme of artist commissions, Nicola Lees’ curation examined how digital culture and connectivity shape social behaviour and respond to people’s growing desire for Revelation through immersive environments.

Among the figures LS:N Global predicts will make waves in the coming year are Instagram phenomenon Amalia Ulman, a leading artist of her generation; Samara Scott, this year’s pin-up for purposeful art; and Jeremy Herbert, who was revealed as the go-to genius for high-impact set design.

The Big Picture:

Art and commerce are familiar bedfellows. Pioneers of retail theatre, South Korean eyewear brand Gentle Monster has commissioned artists to create sense-inspiring showrooms.
