London – The Future Laboratory and global association for creative advertising and design D&AD are hosting an evening exploring what the future of technology holds for digital design.
President’s Lecture: Awakening Tech will aim to uncover the meaning and emotion behind algorithms and deep-learning systems, discussing the key projects that are making waves in the creative world.
Speakers include artist Andreas Nicolas Fischer, who creates physical manifestations of digital processes; Quayola, whose photography, digital sculptures and immersive audio-visual installations explore the relationship between the real and the artificial; and Lawrence Lek, who explores the transformation of utopian visions through prototypes, simulations and installations.
‘It is timely to be discussing the digital influence on design and on society in general,’ says Joanna Tulej, art director at The Future Laboratory and co-host of the event. ‘As the world around us becomes increasingly connected and digitised, blurring the lines between the virtual and the physical, previously siloed design sectors are converging in fascinating ways.’
President’s Lecture: Awakening Tech will take place on Wednesday 21 January at Logan Hall, The Institute of Education, University of London. For tickets visit D&AD’s Eventbrite page.
