Doctor’s orders: Japan’s Kampo Lounge updates the herbal medicinal store

31 : 10 : 2014 Designer Pharmacies : Kampo Lounge : Id Inc.

Aichi, Japan – Japanese interior design studio id inc has updated the traditional herbal medicine store for the interior of Kampo Lounge.

The design incorporates the need for plenty of storage space. Mint green cabinets cover every available inch of wall space and can be used to store and display the glass jars which are full of ingredients.

Id inc has created a clean, bright aesthetic using pastel palettes and contemporary furnishings which double as storage for Kampo Lounge’s huge inventory of medicinal products. The panoramic glass shopfront reveals the adjoining examination room used for acupuncture and moxibustion treatments.

‘Taking advantage of its wide opening frame, the space was intended to look like a large show window,’ Seiji Oguri, co-founder of id inc tells LS:N Global. ‘Kampo Lounge in mint green and the clinic for acupuncture and moxibustion in white are clearly separated by a waiting room. It expressly tells people that one building has two spaces, one for each purpose.’
