Dazzling Afterglow: Philips film mesmerises with LED lights

21 : 10 : 2014 Philips TV : Sweetgrass Productions : Fauna Festish

US – Electronics company Philips is promoting its Ambilight TV technology with a stunning film that plays with colour and light.

In the short film, two skiers – internationally renowned freeskiers Pep Fujas and Eric Hjorleifson – wear customised LED suits as they descend Alaskan snow-covered mountains in the dark. As they plummet downwards, their shapes and the snow they spray are illuminated with a spectrum of colours lighting the night sky.

The magical film, Afterglow, is a collaboration between Philips TV, film company Sweetgrass Productions and Swedish agency Ahlstrand & Wållgren to announce their colour and light television technology.

The video above is a preview trailer of the 12-minute version, which was released on 19 October.

The striking visual aesthetic is reminiscent of the Fauna Fetish Design Direction that LS:N Global has previously explored that showed how designers are drawing on narratives around the delicate interplay between nature and technology.
