Austria – German car manufacturer Audi has unveiled its e-bike prototype featuring self-quantifying technology at the Wörthersee Tour motor show in Austria.
Designed for sports cyclists, the electric bike features five cycling modes including ‘pure’ human-powered pedalling to ‘egrip’, which relies on the electric motor alone.
Riders can monitor performance statistics, such as speed and energy consumption, on the e-bike’s touchscreen computer or by wirelessly synchronising it with a smartphone, which can be automatically linked to Facebook. Cyclists can also record themselves performing tricks with an in-helmet camera and upload the footage to a website to enter in an online competition with other riders.
This a great example of a brand harnessing consumer demand for technology that makes it possible to self-monitor performance and progress, as demonstrated by our Self-Quants tribe.
