Osaka – Interior designer Teruhiro Yanagihara has created NE, a strikingly minimal hair salon.
The aim was to create a space where its function is concealed. ‘The space was conceived as a narrative sequence,’ notes Yanagihara.
Hairdressing chairs hide behind large mirror screens that fold out and can be moved around freely. Blocks of texture and modern materials dominate the space and are used to exemplify the super minimalist aesthetic.
The doors feature apparently seamless hinges that fold out of the wall like origami. LS:N Global recently reported on another of Yanagihara’s recent salons for Japanese hairdressing chain LIM.
