Philadelphia – Hotel concept Lokal features all of the amenities of a boutique rental property apart from on-site staff to make guests feel more at home.
Located in Philadelphia’s Old City neighbourhood, known for its independent stores, galleries and cafés, Lokal comprises a series of self-catering apartments with hotel facilities. The ‘invisible service’ hotel offers automated coded check-in and guests can use iPads located in every room to communicate with staff.
Designed by Jersey Ice Cream Company, each unit features a tiled bathroom, walk-in shower, kitchen and living room.
‘One of the key elements of our business is that we are a small boutique hotel going into unique residential neighbourhoods where larger hotels just don’t fit,’ says Chad Ludeman, co-founder of Lokal.
Traditional hospitality brands are riding the wave of the Airbnb Backlash by offering guests home-like environments with all of the amenities of a traditional hotel.
