Eco-woodwork: Four chairs from one piece of wood

21 : 03 : 2013 Environmental : Minimalist : Geometric

South Korea – South Korean designer Seungji Mun has created a set of eco-friendly furniture made from one piece of wood.

Consumers are increasingly turning towards eco-friendly products to save money and reduce their environmental impact, as we reported in our Eco-Home markets insight.

Four Brothers is a set of four chairs made from a single piece of wood, so there is no waste, making it completely eco-friendly project. The plan is to be able to mass-produce these chairs, without the usual waste and environmental impact.

Although all the chairs were made from the same piece of wood, each has an original design with its own unique aesthetic, so consumers can choose the one they like best. All the chairs have backs, and are intended to be more comfortable than stools and therefore suitable for spaces where people have to sit for long periods such as lecture halls and performance studios.

With the natural wood colour remaining, and the simple geometric shapes the chairs appear minimalist, reflecting their core environmentally friendly message.
