New York – Tørst, a new beer bar, offers a sophisticated and stylish drinking experience, all set in a wine bar-like space.
There is a growing trend to steer beer culture away from its association with drunks and pubs towards a more refined scene, as we reported in our Beer Connoisseurs microtrend.
Customers of the bar, created by Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø and Daniel Burns, can choose from more than 200 bottled beers from around the world and 21 draught beers. A flux capacitor behind the bar enables staff to adjust the compression of the taps, ensuring beer can be served to the highest standard. To add to the refined experience a selection of charcuterie, cheese, pickles and olives is available, taking customers a world away from the usual pub experience.
The bar space, designed by hOmE New York, also draws on the aesthetics of wine bars, with beer taps lined up at the back like wine bottles. With its mixture of reclaimed wood on the walls, square marble tiles on the bar and Scandinavian chairs from the 60s, the bar appears stylish and streamlined.
